Frequently Asked Questions

01

Who can approach Keri for mental health and psychosocial support services?

We only accept social justice defenders or activists, as well as family members of defenders/activists, active or inactive. We welcome referrals from social justice organizations, or those coming to us independently, as individuals.

02

What do your Care Sessions look like?

Our Care Sessions reflect our Kasama sa Ginhawa (accompaniments in wellbeing) psychosocial accompaniment approach, that integrates holistic security, Sikolohiyang Pilipino (Filipino Psychology), and trauma-informed care.

Care support will depend on the need, sociopolitical context, and choice of the defender/activist. For Individual Defenders, we usually provide 3 - 8 care sessions that lasts 1.5 - 2.0 hours. We also provide long-term accompaniment, up to 3+ years, such as for defenders facing continued attacks, SLAPP or trumped-up charges, etc.

For Group/Collective Care support, we are able to facilitate collective psychological first aid and accompaniment dependent on the concern.

These can be done online or in person.
03

How confidential and secure are these Care Sessions?

Keri has a strict confidentiality policy that respects defenders' security and autonomy. The details of the Care Session will stay between the tagahabi (accompaniment) and the support-seeker. With the expressed consent of the defender and organization, we only share recommendations to improve collective care practices; no details are disclosed. We are able to facilitate care online through secure platforms such as Signal and Jitsi.
